Expedited TCG Casual Queue (Alternative matchmaking queue)

Please hear me out before TL;DR or “time limits have already been discussed” kicks in.

What is Expedited TCG Casual Queue?

Expedited TCG Casual Queue would be a separate alternative queue that has a strict 1 minute to 1 minute and 30 second timer for turns. Making an action will not grant more time, the time you are allotted is the time you are allotted.

I would also suggest experimenting with imposing limitations upon the extra deck either in how frequently one can summon from it within the same turn, or how many cards the extra deck can contain. This is to prevent to the common FTK scenario of both players having to race to flood the field with field wiping, effect negating beat sticks in order to stand a reasonable chance.

Why?

As is commonly seen not only here on YGO Omega, but on Master Duel, your locals, and where ever else many people are running the same style meta solitaire decks which commonly have grossly bloated turns which can extend to 10 - 15 minutes on their main phase alone. That’s not even addressing how it can and often does start all over again whenever the turn phase changes. To make things worse these solitaire decks are largely designed to prevent the opponent from playing the game entirely. Which to state the obvious is not fun for them and is unhealthy for this game to continue existing.

In short, start a match and sit there for 10 - 15 or 20 minutes waiting to play just to get FTKed before you get to play a card of your own, or be spam negated then FTKed if you did get to put a couple cards down.

The purpose of an Expedited Casual Queue are these points:

• Discourage endless turns and keep duels moving at a reasonable pace.
• Encourage larger deck diversity.
• Provide actually casual matchmaking rather than playing against the same style FTK plays we’re constantly seeing with these solitaire decks.
• Remove the dilemma of picking between hosting a match with tighter rules and waiting forever for an opponent, or using the matchmaking system and watching your opponent turn the duel into a singleplayer game.
• Encourage more people to stick around rather than filtering out casual and new/ returning players.

Addendum:

I suggest this not to take away from those who enjoy the current system. Leave the existing matchmaking systems as they are. I am merely suggested an additional separate matchmaking queue which will provide players a more casual environment to run different kinds of decks, and allow for rookies and casuals to have fun as well.

I don’t think it needs to be said, but Konami has done a very poor job at managing balance which is how we find ourselves here, and for this I think it’s high time players started making the adjustments Konami won’t.
