Adding special effcts to the board

You know what would be really cool for Omega? Being able to call in special effects via script. Like “target a zone/monster/etc. Hit it with lightning.gif”

Letting cards get themed with destruction/summoning fit for them. Like, what makes a destruction by Blue-Eyes different than by Red-Eyes? Well, Red Eyes lights the zone on fire. Blue eyes doesn’t. Black Luster Soldier? A slash across the card. Maybe during damage calculations.

When Guardian Angel Joan summons, a pillar of light is placed around them on the board. Things to add theme and flare!

While this is a good suggestion, the level of effort to implement this is quite large. You have names 4 very different effects that are applicable for 4 cards. These cards effects can’t really be grouped into categories. When the team is so small, there needs to be reusability. Do you reuse them based on the attribute? Do you reuse them based on card art? This requires tons of manual effort.

In each case, similar to Master Duel, animations grow stale and people get bored of them quickly. In addition the amount of time they can take is very short as anything longer becomes a gameplay burden, eating more of the players time. All of these factors lead animations being set aside unless it is a generic effect that can be used in a mass pattern and can be turned off quickly.
