Contact C should be a valid material for synchro but isn't

Hello fellow ygo players,

I play ghoti, which synchro summons fish synchros during the opponent’s turn. The context is uncertain gamestate either of me or my opponent can win.

My opponent special summons contact C on my field to prevent me from Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, or Link Summonning unless I use that card as material.

I activate Paces’ effect, intending to synchro Askaan (lv 8, 1 tuner + 1+ non tuners) using Paces (lv 2) and contact C (lv 6) as material. But on resolution : nothing happens, I can’t synchro. Now I’m hard losing.

It seems to me that i SHOULD be able to synchro Askaan since contact C is a valid material. Omega doesn’t allow it, neither me nor my opponent could explain why…

No I don’t sorry. The activvation window with the luminous frame appeared around paces. I activated Paces’ effect. Then nothing happened on res.
The rest of the board was

me : Psiics, Shif, Contact C

him : yummy minion, snatchy, yummy field

it was start of turn 2. I don’t recall any other handtrap. There was no other floodgate. I DO believe it’s a bug.
