Aeropixthree "Burnup Counters" do not work as intended

    [With the card "Aeropixthree", when the Burnup counter is given to the monster, the effect to reduce the monster's ATK/DEF is tied to Aeropixthree being face-up on the field, rather than the counters being on the monster.]

  2. Bug reproduction steps

    [Summon Aeropixthree, and have a monster summoned to your opponent's field in the same column. Activate Aeropixthree's effect, and resolve it, placing a Burnup Counter on the opponent's monster. With the opponent's monster still face-up on the field, flip Aeropixthree face-down with something like Book of Moon. By doing this, the opponent's monster has its ATK/DEF reverted back to its pre-counter state.]

    [Because the effect to reduce the monster's ATK/DEF is in parenthesis describing the properties of the counters, the presence of Aeropixthree being on the field should not have any bearing on the monster's ATK/DEF being reduced or not. An example of this working as intended would be with the "Cubic Counter" mechanic, where, regardless of the status of the card that placed the counters, the effect to not be able to attack and having the monster's effects negated still apply.]

This is not actually a bug. The effect that reduces atk/def of the opponents monster by 200 for each counter, is a continuous effect of Aeropixthree (which is more clear when viewing the OCG text due to different effect formating. ①: Once per turn, you can activate this effect by targeting 1 face-up monster your opponent controls in the same column as this card. Move this card on your field to another of your Main Monster Zones, and move the targeted opponent’s monster to your opponent’s Main Monster Zone in front of this card. Afterwards, place 1 burn counter on that opponent’s monster. This effect can also be activated during your opponent’s turn. ②: While this card is in the Monster Zone, the ATK and DEF of monsters with burn counters on them are reduced by 200 x the number of counters placed on them.

For comparison, heres the OCG effect of Vijam. Note the difference in how the 2 counter effect are both worded and formatted:

①: This card cannot be destroyed by battle. ②: At the end of the Damage Step when this card battles an opponent’s monster, you can activate this effect. Treat this card in your Monster Zone as a Permanent Spell Card and place it face-up in your Spell & Trap Zone, and place 1 Cubic Counter on that opponent’s monster. A monster with a Cubic Counter on it cannot attack, and its effects are negated. ③: If this card is treated as a Permanent Spell Card due to the effect of this card, you can activate this effect during your Main Phase. Special Summon this card from your Spell & Trap Zone.
